NCEMA, GCC Emergency Management Centre discuss cooperation
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Hosni, Director-General of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, NCEMA, and Dr. Adnan Mahmoud Al Tamimi, Chairman of the Gulf Cooperation Council, GCC, Emergency Management Centre, today discussed means of cooperation and coordination and the exchange of ideas and knowledge between both sides.

During the meeting, they also reviewed future programmes related to emergency, crisis and disaster management and identifying the best international practices and expertise, to improve the efficiency of policies and procedures to develop the emergency, crisis and disaster management systems of the GCC countries.

Al Tamimi praised the UAE’s support and cooperation since the centre’s establishment four years ago, highlighting the NCEMA’s role and collaboration in many programmes and projects, which have helped boost the centre’s operational capacities and regional integration efforts.

Al Tamimi presented a summary of the centre’s achievements, programmes and activities, including organising training courses, planning for regional threats and creating risk plans.

The GCC Ministerial Council approved the Gulf Emergency Plan in 2014 and transferred its management to the GCC Emergency Management Centre, which was officially established in 2013 and is based in Kuwait. The centre aims to promote the efforts of GCC countries and coordinate with them in emergency and crisis management.
