MAD 1.8 billion’s worth of hotel projects are under construction in Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region, announced the Regional Council of Tourism (CRT) on February 21.

The large scale tourism projects call for a total of 21 hotels with an accommodation capacity of 4143, amounting to an investment of MAD 1.981 billion.

Morocco’s Vision 2020 foresees the usage 4,600 beds and the arrival of 1015000 tourists, states CRT.

According to the council, the region has 57 hotel units with an accommodation capacity of 5,680 beds, equivalent to 2.7% of the total capacity of 200,000 beds in the whole country.

The number of arrivals in 2016 reached 276,279, a 6% increase in comparison with 2015.

A total of 568,091 overnight stays were recorded by registered accommodation establishments, with an increase of 2% and an occupation rate of 55%  over 2015, adds the CRT.

Rabat-Salé-Kenitra Region has 109 travel agencies, 96 tourist transport agencies, and 33 operative tourist guides in Morocco.
