Dubai - Arabstoday

Lieutenant General Saif Abdullah Al Shafar, undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, has recently visited the Hatta Border Port Project, which he noted is one of the main border carters to link the UAE with the state of Oman and is aimed at solving the delays in transportation between both countries. He was accompanied by Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality, Major General Mohammed Al Marri, director general at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs (GDRFA) , and a number of officials from federal and government agencies. Lootah briefed Al Shafar on the details of the project, pointing out that this project was based on close cooperation with the GDRFA, adding that the civic body has taken into account energy saving and environmental concerns in its implementation of the project. As part of the project, a building to handle transactions of travellers will be set up in addition to four other buildings that will be used to complete necessary procedures for departing passengers and five buildings to receive arriving passengers. All facilities are equipped with covered tracks and a special path has been dedicated for trucks in order to ease traffic congestion for passengers travelling through the area during the peak period. The project is expected to promote commercial and economic activities and the design will highlight the architectural outlook of the UAE.
