His Excellency Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, has affirmed the Sultanate's support for His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, and his efforts to remove tension with GCC relations, and move towards security and stability in the region.

His Excellency Yusuf bin Alawi said that the efforts of His Highness the Emir of Kuwait puts the interests of Gulf citizens as the topmost priority.

Yusuf bin Alawi expressed his hope that the endeavour will lead to overcoming the political differences and achieving stability, security and prosperity for all.

His Excellency also congratulated the State of Kuwait on receiving a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council, stressing that this achievement is one for all GCC countries and the Islamic world.

Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait, said the Omani-Kuwaiti relations are well established and distinguished at all levels.

This came in a speech delivered by Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid during the opening of the Eighth session of the Omani-Kuwaiti Higher Joint Committee meeting in the presence of His Excellency Yusuf bin Alawi.

Sheikh Al-Khalid clarified that His Highness the Emir of Kuwait's earlier visit to the Sultanate reflects the nature and extent of the Omani and Kuwaiti peoples' feelings of love, appreciation, sincere brotherhood and a renewed determination to work together in a framework of matching visions towards regional and international issues.

Sheikh Sabah praised the keenness of the committee to make maximum use of the momentum that accompanied the Oman visit, to achieve closer consolidation of bilateral relations and promote them in various fields of trade, economy, development, social, and other vital areas.

He stressed that the two countries are on the threshold of a new phase of fruitful economic cooperation, especially after the signing of a partnership agreement between Kuwait Petroleum International and Oman Oil to develop the Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Complex in the Economic Zone of Duqm.

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister welcomed the invitation from the Omani delegation to prepare and promote the investment opportunities available in the Sultanate to invest in the general reserve fund of the State.

The First Deputy Prime Minister also welcomed the invitation to the Kuwaiti private sector to enter into investment partnerships with the Omani government or with Omani business owners in investment programs for development projects presented by the Sultanate in various fields.
