Dubai - Arab Today

The organising committee of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, DIHQA, met to assess the performance of the 21st edition of the global competition.

Ibrahim Mohamed Bu Melha, Adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and Head of the DIHQA Organising Committee, initiated discussion on a number of issues. Topics included members’ feedback on performance and weaknesses and ways to develop the competition, which saw an unprecedented 103 contestants from across the world, including 12 participants who were disqualified for failing to clear the mandatory initial tests.

Bu Melha congratulated the Emirati Quran memoriser, Obaida Mohamed Noor Abdulrahman Al Zarounie, who managed to rank third in the Tanzania International Holy Quran Award and was honoured in the presence of the former Tanzanian president, senior officials, and diplomats.

The organising committee further paid tribute to the tireless effort of the nationwide Quran study centres, which are supported by the prudent UAE leadership.
