Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan.
Manama - Arab Today

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today deputised Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, to attend the 33rd annual honouring ceremony of hard-working workers and outstanding establishments in the private sector, held today under HM the king’s patronage.

The ceremony, held as part of the kingdom’s celebration of the Anniversary of HM King Hamad’s Accession to the Throne and the glorious National Day, was attended by MPs, scores of officials, public personalities, labour leaders, trade and economic figures, representatives of trade unions and professional societies, dignitaries, heads and CEOs of private sector companies and guests.

The minister delivered a statement in which he conveyed greetings from HM the King, as well as his congratulations and wishes of success for everyone so as to carry on the giving march and take part in the nation’s building and progress.

He credited the government with the labour market’s great success which led to its cohesion and ability to withstand all obstacles, generate job opportunities and maintain the unemployment rate at its secure and natural level of 4 percent, which is among the best in the world.

The achieved national success is the fruitful outcome of the existing cooperation between partners in work and development, which are employers, who are represented by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and employees, who are represented by the General Federation of Workers Trade Unions in Bahrain (GFWTUB), and the Bahrain Free Labour Unions Federation (Al-Hurr).

This, he said, contributed to strengthening the stability of the labour market, and consolidating positive cooperation among the three production parties.

The minister highlighted the fruitful cooperation with the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), which, along with the Labour and Social Development Ministry, contributed to enhancing the regulation and organisation of the labour market, under the patronage and directives of the Cabinet, led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and direct follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, in order to implement policies that make Bahrainis the best option in employment.

The minister lauded the honoured employees, who, he said, presented an honourable image of the Bahraini worker who is hard-working, disciplined and dedicated in the service of his country.

He also praised the hnoured employers, whom he considered as role models for being aware of the goals of development and of the importance of employing the national workforce and integrating them in the labour market.

Then, Huda Ahmed Hussain spoke on behalf of the honourees and affirmed their pride in being selected to be honoured by the State, under the HM the King’s patronage.

She affirmed that the annual ceremony reflects the government’s interest in highlighting the giving of the Bahraini workers by honouring the outstanding and hard-working ones so as to motivate others to exert more efforts and contribute more effectively to the national comprehensive development march.

After that, the Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan and Undersecretary Sabah Salim Al Dosary presented the honourees with certificates and awards.

The honour list includes four prominent pioneers, four outstanding establishments, a small enterprise, 11 outstanding administrators, two supporters of persons with disability, two workers with special needs and four workers.

Other honourees represent the sectors of oil and gas (6), manufacturing industries (14), transportation and stores (9), banking, finance and insurance (7), contracting sector (8), trade (24), hospitality, restaurants and hotels ( 5), social activities (8) and others (9).

Eight workers from the professions that have recently attracted the national workforce will also be honoured.
