The Parliament session to discuss and assess the government's policy and performance winded up on Friday, where 32 lawmakers made remarks on issues including the election law, the salary scale, and corruption.
In remarks made at the end of the session, Prime Minister Saad Hariri maintained that the government's responsibility was to reach a new election law and shun the dangers of vacuum.
"My bet is on returning to the Parliament in a short period of time to discuss a draft law that could enjoy the agreement of all lawmakers," he said.
"All the political forces have endeavored to reach an election law with all positivity; this positivity still exists," he underlined.
"We want a law that takes into account concerns related to representation. They have all the right, especially amid what we are enduring," he said.
"The only thing that protects us is our national unity," he stressed.
Hariri went on to say that the state budget would be soon before the Parliament for discussion. "The government will be fully ready to discuss each item and answer all questions."
"I am against imposing taxes on those with limited and low income. I am against the imposition of any new tax. But he who has a serious realistic plan to fund the salary scale, let him give it to us," he added.
Moreover, Hariri indicated that the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources was preparing for a draft law on establishing the sovereign fund relevant to oil and gas.
