Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rai called upon the political parties in Lebanon to rise above their private interests and accounts to be able to serve the public interest of the state its institutions and citizens.
Rai addressed on Saturday the political parties in Lebanon in his Easter message by urging them to " 'cross' to a new life style in their private and public lives to enable the Lebanese citizen to 'cross' to a better national, economic, social and living state."
Rai said, "the political group in our country cannot continue sharing among them the capabilities of the country, its positions and public money in accordance with the capabilities of those who have influence among them; they cannot continue disrupting everything else when they disagree on the shares of each of them under the pretext of reaching consensus regardless of the serious damages that befell on public institutions and the Lebanese people," urging them to adopt the "meaning of Easter, which means 'crossing', and to cross to the real concept of the national pact, the dimensions of coexistence, the spirit of the constitution and its content and to protect these three national pillars that characterize Lebanon."
He called upon them "to practice political work and use legal authority in its beautiful artistic way to really organize the public life and its daily demands as well as the state's national activities -- as of projects that boost economic, social, legitimate and cultural fields --and the state's foreign activities as of building constructive relations with other countries."
Rai concluded his Easter message by wishing everyone Happy Easter.
