These meetings allowed to discuss issues relating to African affairs, notably the Malian crisis and its repercussions on the region. The stress was put on the need to urge belligerent parties to comply with international conventions on armed conflicts, including the one aimed to preserve the rights of civilians and displaced people, and put an end to foreign military intervention as soon as possible for the benefit of a legitimate government .
