His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today visited the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) where he was received by Ahmed bin Zayed Al-Zayed, Chairman of the CSB, and senior representatives. His Royal Highness noted the important role of the CSB in improving government performance, and facilitating government institutions in policy implementation. His Royal Highness directed the CSB to establish an induction programme for the government's senior staff. His Royal Highness was briefed on the CSB's organisational chart, along with its priorities, tasks and principle challenges. In return, His Royal Highness praised the work of the CSB, whilst highlighting the importance of setting a series of core, unified priorities to make the best use of the human and financial resources available. Speaking more broadly, His Royal Highness emphasised that the ultimate goal of the government, under the leadership and vision of His Majesty King Hamad and under the instruction of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister, is the development of Bahrain. His Royal Highness further emphasised the importance of continually striving to improve the performance of the civil service by investing in the development of government skills, not least through qualitative training programmes. Finally, His Royal Highness expressed his support to the CSB's development of new systems that can be applied across all ministries and public entities. This includes improvements to the annual evaluation process, taking account of international best practice, which will measure performance against key government indicators. On behalf of the CSB, Mr. Al Zayed thanked His Royal Highness for the visit and his directions towards the further development of the CSB.
