Following a visit to Danat Al Emarat Hospital; for Women and Children in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Abdullah Al Hamed, Chairman of Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, emphasised the importance of the private sector role in the delivery and advancement of healthcare services in Abu Dhabi.
Al Hamed highlighted the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors and its impact on health services delivery and quality in the Emirate.
Shaikh Abdullah Al Hamed said: "The private sector is playing a vital role in providing integrated and specialized healthcare services. In compliance with the best international standards, the private sector is building state-of-the-art facilities, attracting and retaining qualified medical staff, using and investing in advanced medical technologies, and collaborating with reputed international healthcare management companies. This is contributing to the betterment of healthcare sector in Abu Dhabi."

Al Hamed stressed that the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, the healthcare regulator in Abu Dhabi, is striving to improve the healthcare services offered to our people; the true wealth in any society."
Mohammed Al Hameli, Acting Director-General at the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, accompanied Al Hamed during the visit.
Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa Al Hammadi, Managing Director & CEO of United Eastern Medical Services (UEMedical), gave a detailed presentation on the vision and strategy of UEMedical group, which includes Danat Al Emarat Hospital, HealthPlus Network of Specialty Centers and Moorfields Eye Hospital Abu Dhabi.
"Sheikh Abdullah Al Hamed's visit today coincides with the hospital’s second anniversary and the birth of the first baby in the hospital on 28 October 2015," Al Shorafa stated.
"Since the hospital opening, the number of women patients exceeded 23000, and pediatric patients exceeded 15000. The newborns delivered at the hospital reached 5300, of which 2995 were UAE Nationals, and the number of children & women surgeries performed reached 1600 surgeries."
The hospital welcomed more than 6,5000 visits in the outpatient clinics during 2016, with a capacity of 150 inpatient beds. It has plans to increase its bed capacity in the next few years in line with the high demand for health services.
During the visit, Sheikh Al Hamed was also accompanied by Majd Abu Zant, CEO of HealthPlus Specialty Centers, part of UEMedical group; Vino Nallaya, CEO of Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women & Children; Dr. Thomas Kunt, Chief Medical Officer as well as other officials from UEMedical group.
