Counsellor Rafiq Omar Sherif, the Deputy Head of the State Lawsuits Authority said the verdict issued on Tuesday in the case of the Tiran and Sanafir islands rejecting a challenge by the authority against a previous ruling classifying the two islands as Egyptian, does not affect an appeal before the Supreme Administrative Court.
In statements to MENA, Sherif, who is the head of the defense panel in the case, asserted that the verdict considering the two islands Egyptian territories was not final and will not affect the challenge before the Supreme administrative court.
State Lawsuits Authority had presented to the Supreme Administrative Court four maps issued by the Egyptian Geographic Society in 1928 and other official documents confirming the two islands were Saudi territories.
