President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued a republican decree Tuesday appointing veteran journalist Diaa Rashwan as head of the State Information Service (SIS).
Rashwan was born in Mahamid village the upper Egyptian governorate of Qena in 1960 and held the post of the chairman of the Syndicate of Journalists in 2013.
He graduated from the Faculty of Political Science in 1981 and a masters degree from Sorbonne University in Paris in 1985.
The State information Service is a government body belonging to the presidency and plays a role in the country's official's media and state public relations. (MENA)
