Head of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee in the Shura Council, Khalid Hussain Al Masqati, has hailed the Royal directives regarding Legislative-Executive cooperation that reflect His Majesty the King’s keenness to develop the democratic process, reaching consensual formulae to achieve the national interest while taking into consideration citizens’ circumstances especially in the low-income category.
He welcomed the statement of Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa regarding the convening of coordinative Executive-Legislative meetings for streamlining government subsidies to eligible citizens.
Al Masqati stressed that the Legislative-Executive cooperation will boost the decisions that will contribute in the nation’s interest under the current economic circumstance. He asserted the readiness of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee to discuss this matter in the Shura Council in view of its significance, asserting the importance of well-informed discussion away from commotion that might derail the discussion from the main goal which is to reach the consensus that will ensure the national interest. He pointed out that the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee is monitoring with concernment the decision of increasing the rates of benzene fuel.
The committee tasked the legal advisor and the financial advisor to prepare a study that will discuss the conditions surrounding this decision and its impacts on practical grounds. The committee is anticipated to hold a preparatory meeting to discuss the topic and prepare its remarks and recommendations for the coordinative meetings with the government.
