Saudi security authorities successfully managed to thwart an imminent terrorist attempt, Saudi Press Agency quoted the security spokesman of the Saudi Ministry of Interior as saying on Friday.
He explained that the security forces chased two cars outside of Bisha Province, in Asir Region, pointing out that one of the two cars was loaded with explosives, adding that when the drivers felt that the security men are following them up, they started to open fire and drove to a desert area, where the security forces hunted them with the help of the security aviation and exchange fire with them. After hitting the cars, the drivers went out and fortified, at a mountainous site before the explosion of their cars.
Two besieged drivers refused appeals to surrender, he stated, and continued to, heavily, fire towards the security men who had to respond similarly, killing the drivers, without causing any injuries among security men.
The security authorities are still continuing their operation, at the site, completing the verification process of the identities of the dead, and will issue a detailed statement later on, in this regard, including the outcomes, the spokesman concluded.
