Former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq withdrew his resignation as president of the National Movement Party.

In a statement that was posted on the party's official website page, Shafiq said his decision came after the party refused to accept his resignation, hoping that the resumption of his partisan activities would help serving Egypt and would contribute to boosting national action.

Former presidential candidate Shafiq resigned in June from the party, citing the difficult conditions he has worked under but vowing to remain involved in politics.

Shafiq said he will hold some reshuffles in the party's leading posts across the nation to guarantee a strong representation.

He added that the reshuffles will be finalized and announced within the coming few days.

Shafiq has been in the United Arab Emirates since he lost the presidential runoffs in June 2012 to deposed president Mohamed Morsi.

Shafiq’s name has been put on the airport watch list due to ongoing investigations over corruption charges.
