The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi received approximately 254,000 visitors from across the world last August, according to figures released today.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre's monthly report reveals that it organised many charitable and humanitarian events, cultural lectures and training courses, in line with its pioneering cultural role and its efforts to uphold the values of tolerance and coexistence.
The centre also received a new batch of university students and alumni for its programme "Ibn al-Dar", Son of the Nation, with 12 participants for the second session this year.
The programme supports the rehabilitation of national cadres working in the field of cultural tourism, with the number of participants since the launch of the programme now up to 73 trainees, 52 of whom graduated to work in this field.
The centre oversees the training of cultural tourism specialists at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Fujairah, in both Arabic and in English, in compliance with international performances and quality standards.
The centre's mission is to provide the appropriate atmosphere for religious ceremonies and a destination that would showcase the heritage of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan
