Shura asserts support for Palestinian rights

The Shura Council, in a statement issued today, stressed that the decision of the US Administration to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is in violation of the legitimate international resolutions, which affirm the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its Capital.
The statement said the American Administration’s decision encroaches upon Arab and Islamic rights, as well as other religions in the occupied holy city renowned for peaceful coexistence.
It added the US decision would also threaten the peace process in the Middle East and raise tension in the region.
The Shura Council asserted its firm support for the Palestinian people’s rights, calling for joint international action to stand against the US Administration’s decision and to preserve the right of the Palestinian State and protect its holy sites.
