Ten rockets and mortar rounds from Syria slammed into Lebanon's northeastern region of Hermel Tuesday, leaving one person dead and four others wounded. A local Lebanese security source told Xinhua that one of the rockets landed in an agricultural field in the Dora area and ignited a fire. It added that the source of fire could not be confirmed, though it is possibly from a location close to the border of eastern Syrian and Lebanon. Over the past weeks, Syrian rebels have fired dozens of rockets on Hermel and the Hezbollah stronghold of Baalbek which left two people dead and eight others injured. Lebanon's President Michel Suleiman last month condemned rockets from Syria targeting Lebanese regions, calling on Syrian warring parties to "respect Lebanon's sovereignty and avoid the regions close to the border with Syria form being hit."
