Jean-Luc Martinez, President-Director of the Musee du Louvre, has expressed his happiness at the Louvre Abu Dhabi opening in the UAE.
"This move underscores the important role culture plays in expanding strategic relations between countries and their peoples," he added.
"The Louvre Abu Dhabi will provide an opportunity for an important segment of the world's population, especially residents in the Middle East, to see the world's most precious treasures from rare and invaluable artefacts," Martinez said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM.
He went on to say that the Louvre Abu Dhabi is a significant collaboration between France and the UAE, where the two countries already hold strong ties across various sectors.
"Culture plays a key element in these relations. This remarkable relationship has culminated in this large cultural project, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, which brings further together with the two friendly countries," Jean-Luc Martinez continued.
It is a great honour for France and the Musee du Louvre to contribute to the birth of this grand museum in Abu Dhabi, which will open to the public on 11th November, he said. "We are confident that members of the public are eagerly awaiting the opening of the Louvre Abu Dhabi."
Martinez concluded by saying that the Louvre Abu Dhabi is a great cultural expression and is the result of an active and constructive Emirati-French collaboration. "It truly is an honour to partner with the UAE and be able to convey to the world, via this giant edifice, the language of culture and civilisation, uniting its peoples and bring them closer together."
