As part of the 2017-18 sports agenda, the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation has announced the launch of the third Al Shaheed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, dedicated to honouring the memory of the nation’s martyrs and their sacrifices.
To be held from Friday, 24th November, at the Mubadala Arena, the tournament is expected to feature competitions from UAE male and female athletes in the U18 category, the number of participants in which has remarkably increased compared to last year. The tournament seeks to instill feelings of pride of the UAE’s martyrs in the hearts of future generations and to discover and refine the outstanding skills of the nation's future generations.
"The tournament is a tribute to the heroes who sacrificed dearly to keep our flag flying high. It also comes within the framework of the federation's mission to build a strong future generation and international champions," said Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
"The Al Shaheed Jiu-Jitsu Championship reflects our ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and educating future generations on the values and principles of our beloved homeland," he added.
"Abu Dhabi Media, through its Abu Dhabi Sports channels, is keen to cover the Jiu-Jitsu competitions and championships, especially the Al Shaheed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which affirms our responsibility towards our national events and our commitment to our partnership with the federation," said Yaqoob Al Saadi, Head of Abu Dhabi Sports Channels, the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s strategic partner.
"Since the beginning of the 2017-18 season, we have succeeded in enhancing the presence of this unique sport across our multiple platforms as part of our efforts to establish Abu Dhabi as the Jiu-Jitsu capital," concluded Al Saadi.
