State Minister for Combating Corruption, Nicolas Tueni, said in an interview with the Voice of Lebanon radio station 93.3 that the Syrian refugees who were currently in Lebanon had come under pressing circumstances; however, the Minister suggested that it was high time for them to return home now that security prevailed in several Syrian regions.
"The return of Syrian refugees to their country is a victory for the Lebanese state. This issue is very important in Lebanon," Tueni said, requesting the support of the United Nations repatriating the scores of Syrian refugees currently present on Lebanese territories.
Touching on the Palestinian refugee dossier, Tueni confirmed Lebanon's commitment to the international law, UN decisions, and the road map for peace; however, he stressed the need to have Palestinian refugees return to their country, and to avoid the progress of international agreements at the expense of the Lebanese and Syrian peoples
