Tunis - XINHUA

Tunisia has launched an investigation into Jihadist networks responsible for sending hundreds of young Tunisians to Syria, the official TAP press agency reported Tuesday. The justice ministry urges people with leads to "get in touch with the competent authorities." According to a former Jihadist, some 2,000 young Tunisians are currently fighting governmental forces in Syria. Abou Koussay, who recently fled from Syria, told a local newspaper last week that a direct Jihadist line linked Tunisia to Syria via Benghazi, Libya. Recently, scores of Tunisian families have pleaded on local media for the return of their children from Syria and dismantlement of the recruitment networks. In most cases, the families, unaware of their children's departure from the country, are often informed of their arrival in Syria by a simple phone call.
