Government departments, organisations, private sector companies, schools, colleges and individuals joined today in celebrating the UAE's Flag Day with a plethora of activities in which Emiratis and residents came together to signify their shared love of the country. The nation celebrated at 11:00 with flag-raising events and activities.
Emirates Post Group today joined in with national Flag Day activities by hoisting the national flag at its head office in Ramool and in all post offices and subsidiaries, as part of nation-wide celebrations. Abdullah Al Ashram, EPG Acting CEO, hoisted the national flag at the main function held at the Group’s head office in Dubai, at 11 morning.
The Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, AMAF, today joined public and private sector organisations across the UAE in marking the nation’s Flag Day at its headquarters. Tayeb Al-Rais, Secretary-General of AMAF, said, "The UAE Flag Day gives us a perfect opportunity to renew our loyalty and allegiance to our beloved country, and reaffirm our commitment to its advancement and to achieving the goals of the National Agenda of the UAE Vision 2021."
Thuraya Telecommunications Company took part in the nationwide celebrations by hosting the flag at both the company’s Head Office location in Dubai as well as its Primary Gateway in Sharjah. Ahmad Al Shareef, Thuraya’s Chief Human Resources Officer, said, "It’s an honour for Thuraya to celebrate UAE’s heritage and patriotic spirit through traditions like UAE Flag Day. Additionally, it serves to build camaraderie among employees and our neighboring community, as we take a short amount of time to come together and share in a symbolic act that holds meaning to us all."
Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi’s business and lifestyle destination, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Global Market, ADGM, the International Financial Centre in Abu Dhabi, joined government departments, the public and private sectors, to celebrate UAE Flag Day.
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi marked the occasion today with a flag raising ceremony that brought together patients, staff and visitors. Dr. Rakesh Suri, Acting CEO of Cleveland Clinic presided over the ceremony alongside Abdulla Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Acting Head of Mubadala Healthcare. They were joined by patients and staff of all levels, ranging from senior doctors to members of the security and catering staff.
Meanwhile, Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi raised the flag on its campus on Al Reem Island in Abu Dhabi. The university’s management, faculty and administrative staff and students participated in the event. Dr. Fatima Saeed Al Shamsi, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Administrative Affairs at the university, said, "As an Emirati university, we are proud to foster the national spirit in the hearts of our students through Flag Day celebrations. This national day represents the joy and pride we have for the unity of the UAE’s people and their ongoing accomplishments and sacrifice for the nation’s future. By raising the flag high, we are celebrating our national values, the efforts of our wise leadership, and the glory of the UAE."
Team members of Aldar Properties also raised the UAE flag today at Aldar’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, commemorated UAE Flag Day today. "This special day symbolises the unity of the UAE, and is an occasion to pay tribute to the legacy of Sheikh Zayed, the founding father of our nation, and the achievements of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the UAE leadership," said Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar.
The Ministry of Finance celebrated the occasion, during which Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, stressed that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has attained remarkable achievements, highlighting the nation's prosperity in regional and international forums, and formulating a forward-looking vision for future generations.
Emirates NBD observed UAE Flag Day with staff ceremonies at its Deira headquarters and Meydan office.
The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, DFWAC, also celebrated Flag Day. Afra Al Basti, Director-General of the Foundation and Member of the Federal National Council of the UAE, raised the flag at 11:00 a.m. at the headquarters of the foundation in the presence of all the directors and employees who sang the National Anthem in a festive atmosphere in which everyone expressed their love and patriotism.
Also, a flag-raising ceremony was held at Dubai Customs headquarters in the presence of Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs. The ceremony started with raising the UAE Flag, singing the National Anthem, and declaring the flag oath. The flag was hoisted also at different customs centres and buildings in Dubai.
