The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, today distributed a new batch of food and relief aid to vulnerable and low-income families in Ain BaMaabad, Al Juwairy, Al Qamary, Jalaa and Beer Ali in Rudum District in Southern Shabwa, Yemen.
The food and relief aid distributed to villages in Rudum and its other areas are part of the second phase of the ERC’s humanitarian efforts in the district, under the framework of the UAE’s humanitarian strategic plan and based on the directives of the wise leadership to support the Yemeni people. It is meant to assist them through difficult conditions, ease their suffering and improve their economic conditions.
The ERC team in Shabwa Governorate distributed 3,000 food baskets to the people of Rudum, who are suffering under difficult humanitarian conditions despite the area’s rich natural resources, including its agricultural and fisheries resources. However, the local infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, water and electricity projects, roads, sanitation, telecommunications and other services, has witnessed significant deterioration due to the war started by the coup supporters. This has led to the overall deterioration in the financial and social conditions of most of the local population.
Mohammed Saif Al Muhairi, Head of the ERC Team in Shabwa, stressed that the distribution of this relief aims to fulfil the needs of local people and improve their conditions.
The people in the targeted areas thanked the UAE’s government and people for their generous gesture while praising them for providing continuous aid to their governorate.
