The UAE-Jordanian Joint Committee has recommended exploring the available investment opportunities between the two countries. The committee also held discussions on the current investment environment and encouraging more meetings between Jordanian and Emirati people in business and investors.

It recommended further developing commercial relations between the two countries, promoting trade incentives, holding mutual economic events and organising an annual Emirati-Jordanian investment forum.

The meeting was chaired by Mohamed Thani Murshed Al-Rumaithi, Chairman of the UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, as well as the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Nael Al Kabariti, Chairman of Jordan’s Chamber of Commerce.

The committee suggested organising visits for economic delegations and businesspeople and promoting the participation of both sides in trade and investment conferences and exhibitions.

Concerning future cooperation mechanisms, private sector representatives from the two sides confirmed their willingness to draft a comprehensive work plan that would provide all required information and consultations, and contribute to the promotion of the mutual economic ties between the two countries.

Mohamed Al Rumaithi said that the establishment of the UAE-Jordanian Joint Committee represented an important addition to promote the economic, commercial and investment cooperation between the UAE and Jordan.

He explained that this was the committee's third meeting which helps further promote commercial exchange between the countries, which reached US$1.8 billion in 2016.

Al Kabariti underscored that the committee meeting seeks to strengthen cooperation and integration between the countries, as per the directives of the wise leadership of both countries. The high-level representation from the UAE in this meeting reflects its keenness to promote commercial exchange and develop investments in both countries, he added.

The meeting was also attended by Juma Al Abbadi, Ambassador of Jordan to the UAE.
