UAE Minister of International Cooperation and Development Lubna Al-Qasimi met here Thursday with Advisor to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Abdullah Al-Matouq, and discusses issues related to the support of the Syrian people and the humanitarian and security situation in Yemen. The meeting was attended by Head of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Abu Dhabi Khaled Khalifa and Kuwaiti Ambassador to the UAE Salah Al-Buaijan. Al-Matouq, who is also the UN Humanitarian Envoy for Kuwait, told KUNA that Al-Qasimi indicated that the UAE would be providing a detail account on the Emirates efforts in supporting the Syrian people. He said that the Emirati official also provided a briefing on her Ministry's efforts within the humanitarian domain. Al-Matouq also noted that the meeting had touched on the security and humanitarian situation in Yemen, affirming that the GCC countries must continue cooperating to help Yemenis overcome challenges in their country. The GCC provided USD six billion to help support Yemen within the development sector, recalled Al-Matouq.
