Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf met with Chairman and members of Shura Council’s Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, where they discussed means of collaboration with the legislative power.

The Minister stated that that the meeting is part of the communication and integration between the two parties, which serves the public interest and contributes to strengthening collaboration on all levels.

The meeting referred to the projects and programmes that seek to configure infrastructure based on the best international standards. The Minister highlighted the projects that the Ministry has completed in addition to others that are being implemented and those in the design and tendering stages. Also, reference was made to the latest roads and sanitary projects, and projects included within the Gulf Support Programme.

The attendees discussed the Ministry’s collaboration with the Traffic General Directorate, regarding plans and projects contributing to alleviating traffic congestions. They also shed light on the pros of the Ministry’s system (Tawasul), which is considered a tool to improve performance and services.

The Ministry’s Works Affairs Undersecretary Eng. Ahmed Al Khayyat highlighted the Ministry’s preparations for the rainy season and touched upon the most important storm water drainage networks projects. The meeting also referred to the support extended by the Ministry for the development of marine resources, fishermen support, construction and development of fishing harbours, in addition to aspects related to agriculture; being an vital pillar for sustainable development and food security.

Present in the meeting were Municipalities Affairs Undersecretary Dr. Nabil Abul Fatih, Works Affairs Undersecretary Eng. Ahmed Al Khayyat, Roads Assistant Undersecretary Eng. Huda Fakhro, Corporate Municipal Services Assistant Undersecretary Eng. Raed Al Salah, Assistant Undersecretary Eng. Wael Al Mubarak, Sanitary Engineering Assistant Undersecretary Eng. Asma Murad, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Agriculture Dr. Ebrahim Yousif, Human & Financial Resources Director of the Urban Planning & Development Authority Sheikh Ahmed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Chairman of Shura Council’s Financial & Economic Affairs Committee Khalid Al Maskati, Vice-Chairman of the Committee Dr. Abdul Aziz Obul and members of the Committee Bassam Al Bin Mohammed, Jawad Habib, Darwish Al Manaei, Redha Faraj, Ahmed Bahzad and Sadiq Al Rahma.
