Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Monday said that 82 percent of Jordanians enjoy health insurance.
Ensour made the remarks during a meeting with Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government's Minister of Health, Rekawt Karim, in the presence of Minister of Health, Ali Hiasat.
Karim conveyed a message from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister, Nechervan Barzani, in which the latter expressed his keenness to strengthen bilateral relations and benefit from the Jordanian experience in the health care sphere.
The prime minister said that Jordan, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, is keen to provide support and assistance to Iraq's KRG and put all its expertise in the field of health at the disposal of Iraq's KRG authorities.
Ensour highlighted Jordan's achievements in the medical field, that have put it in the forefront of countries in the field of medical tourism.
He noted that about 82 percent of the Kingdom's citizens have health insurance and some have up to three insurance covers, adding that the government has a plan to bring the rest of citizens within the ambit of health insurance.
Ensour pointed out that the KRG's capabilities are limited but significant accomplishments have been achieved, stressing that Jordan will remain KRG's gateway to the world without conditions or restrictions.
He said that the Kurds have contributed to support Iraq in remaining steadfastness against terrorist organizations.
Karim pointed to the desire to benefit from the Jordanian experience in the field of health care and take advantage of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two sides in the field of health in a way that would contribute to strengthen mutual cooperation.
