Lebanese singer Fadl Shaker has told Arabstoday that he will always be true to his religion and people. Shaker was referring to his statements during demonstrations organised by Salafists in Beirut weeks ago against Syrian president Bashar al-Assad. Fadl, who is currently in Qatar, said: "I am fully aware of what I have said. I am in solidarity with the martyrs in Syria as well as civilians and rebels and I will not retreat from my criticism of the Syrian regime and its killing machines." The singer recently celebrated the marriage of his daughter Alhan. The star also said he was happy with the Palestinian nationality offered to him by Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, saying: "Is there a more honourable thing than being Palestinian? It's a reward to be left for my children along with my other achievements in life." Fadl also said he would visit Gaza soon in order to meet the Palestinian people.
