Shailene Woodley says fans should expect Insurgent to have a different feel from Divergent.
The 22-year-old actress confirmed to MTV News the sequel will be "drastically different" from its predecessor. Divergent director Neil Burger (The Illusionist) will return to executive produce Insurgent, but Robert Schwentke (Red) will helm the film.
"It's definitely going to have a lot more action, and I think it's more character-driven in a lot of ways," Woodley revealed. "Robert is definitely an actors' director. He was very keen on hearing our opinions about our characters and collaborating on everything, whether it be the way that she looked, her hair, her makeup, her wardrobe."
"[We were] collaborating on dialogue -- if it felt grounded and truthful -- not only to him, but to me as well," she related. "I really felt like he was protecting the sacredness of the story within the world of big-budget film."
Insurgent will see Woodley's character, Tris Prior, continue her fight against the powerful alliance that threatens to tear her society apart. Theo James, Ansel Elgort, Ray Stevenson, Kate Winslet, Zoe Kravitz and Miles Teller will also return, with newcomers Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer and Suki Waterhouse.
Insurgent is scheduled for release March 20, 2015. Woodley's latest film, White Bird in a Blizzard, opens in limited release Friday.
