Karim Abdel Aziz is pondering the backlash he may face once the publicity photos for his new series "El Heroub" (Escape) are circulated. Escape is to be aired next Ramadan. Some have commented that Karim is flirting with Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood as he is seen wearing the traditional "galabeya" and letting his beard grow. Karim denies this by explaining to Arabstoday that "the role requires me to wear a galabeya which will become apparent after watching the series. Also growing my beard is necessary since the character keeps on escaping from State security officers. So it is logical to let my beard grow to reflect my being on the run and exhausted." His parting comment was to appeal to people not to make judgements before watching the series. By then, he said, "I will be ready to face any criticism."
