HE the Minister of Development Planning and Statistics Dr Saleh bin Mohammed Al Nabit affirmed the importance of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) elections.
HE the Minister underscored the role of the CMC in supporting development and progress in the State of Qatar and assisting the executive bodies in the State to achieve the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, which will support Qatar citizens' well-being .
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), on occasion of the Municipal Council elections which began today, Al Nabit said the current elections are considered as an excellent experience in supporting democracy in the State, through the exercise of the right of election and selection of the right candidates.
HE the minister noted that the election of the CMC which first took place in 1999 represents a real and supportive role to the development of the State in collaboration with all stakeholders to achieve the aspirations of Qatari society.
He commended the great interaction by candidates with citizens, wishing them success in their future role and contribution to sectorial plans and strategies to be implemented by the concerned authorities in the State in accordance with the national development strategy 2011-2016.
