Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Tuesday said that Jordan's economy is "fine," stressing that the national economic approach is improving day after day.
Ensour made his remarks at a supervisory meeting chaired by the House Speaker, Atef Tarawneh, during which representatives listened to the government's responses to a number of parliamentary questions.
The Prime Minister, in reply to a question by deputy Mohammad Qatatsheh about reasons for a setback to Jordan's economy, said the government's economic approach neither took a tumble nor changed, and is becoming better day by day. Also, it has begun to control expenditure and increase cash reserves of foreign currencies at the Central Bank.
He also said that the government's economic approach includes removing all obstacles in the way of economic improvement, stressing that all the government's actions were focused on increasing exports and reducing the inflation rate and controlling expenditure.
Ensour added, "We do have problems, and fixing them needs time, but all of these problems will be solved. Therefore, I reassure everyone and the House of Representatives, that our national economy is fine and there is no need to worry about it." He noted, "Jordan is in a war zone, but that will not deter us from continuing our efforts to improve our conditions." The Prime Minister stressed that Jordan will overcome all the challenges around, and everyone praises the performance of the national economy and the government's performance, saying that the good performance of the economy is due to His Majesty King Abdullah II's efforts.
