Saudi Minister of Energy Khaled Al Faleh stressed the strong relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia in different fields, saying that the meeting of Arab ministerial council conducted in Cairo comes to reflect the historic relations between the two countries. He expressed his country’s aspiration to the meeting which will gather between Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi and Saudi King Salman in Riyadh this month to prove the strength of relations.
He added, during his speech before the meeting, that the Electrical connection line between Egypt and the kingdom is considered one of the fruits of strong cooperation between the two countries in different fields. He added, “We aspire that the project will support the council’s objective Arab common market in the field of electricity, as Saudi put all its capabilities and experiences to serve Arab joint action under the umbrella of League of Arab States.”
He added that Saudi has one of largest electrical organizations in the Middle East, saying that the strategic site of the kingdom qualified it to be a major center industries and services related to electricity and to perform a major role in electrical connection between the member states of Gulf Cooperation Council.
He added that his country adopted its program “Saudi Vision 2030” to achieve economic reform in the Kingdom during the coming years upon a clear roadmap. He added that Saudi Transformation Program 2020 is considered the first step to achieve this objective, stressing his country’s desire to be a leading model in different fields.
He stressed the importance of developing the electrical sector, stressing that it works to restructure this vital sector during the current period to support the investments in the electricity projects and other industries and services related to it.
He added, “We seek to diversify the energy resources used to produce electricity, including the renewed energy sources.” He added that his country gives priority to improve the environmental side to pave the way for creating new job opportunities that could perform a major role to eliminate the increasing unemployment witnessed in the country.
He added that the electrical connection project between the Gulf States performed a major role to support electrical security among the countries of the region during the recent period, saying that it is one of the major factors to support the foreign investments in the framework of the kingdom’s plan to diversify its economic resources during the coming period.
