Algeria and France have underlined the importance of the identification process of the victims of the flight AH 5017 crash and the ongoing investigation with the participation of Algerian experts in these two processes "in accordance with the international conventions in force," said Monday the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a communiqué.
"As part of the consultation and cooperation between Algeria and France on the crash of flight AH 5017 and the implementation of the tripartite agreement signed between Algeria, France and Mali on 31 July, the ambassador Pierre Jean Vandoorne and the chief engineer Jean Michel Aubas, as coordinators of the assistance to the families of the French victims, paid a visit to Algiers on Monday 18 August during which they held discussions with the CEO of the national airline company Air Algerie, Mohamed Salah Boultif, the Secretary General of Ministry of Transport, M'Hareb M'Hamed, and the Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry, Abdelhamid Senouci Bereksi, said the communiqué.
"These discussions allowed the two sides to underline the importance of the identification process of the victims and the ongoing investigation carried out with the participation of Algerian experts, in accordance with international conventions in force," the source added.
"Algeria and France will continue to work together and with the involved countries, mainly Mali, to shed light on the causes of the disaster, and so that the mortal remains of all the victims, as far as possible, would be identified and given to their families, and also to support the families of the victims in this painful ordeal," said the Foreign Ministry's communiqué.
