United Nations Ambassador Amr Ramadan
Geneva - Arab Today

Egypt called on the UN Human Rights Council to shoulder its responsibilities to force Israel to stop its violations against the people in the occupied Arab territories.

Egypt's permanent delegate to the United Nations Ambassador Amr Ramadan made the request on Friday in a speech during the 33rd session of the council on the human rights conditions in the occupied Palestinian and Arab territories.

The diplomat called for issuing a list of Israeli and international companies operating in the Israeli settlements, which the council assigned the high commissioner with preparing it in March 2016.

He pointed to the continued challenges facing the people of the Palestinian and Arab territories occupied by Israel amid the spread of impunity for human rights abuses, freedom oppression and illegal practices, especially the settlement plans, home demolitions, obliterating Al-Quds' religious identity and the arbitrary detention of Palestinians.

The Egyptian envoy also referred to the repercussions of the Israeli occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights and several areas in Lebanon, which leads to human rights abuses against the residents of these areas.
