Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security
Tehran - FNA

Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi in a meeting with his Kenyan counterpart Mohammad Youssef Haji in Tehran said the whole world is threatened by terrorism now.
"Unlike the US and its allies who are the main sponsors of the spread of terrorism in the world, the Islamic Republic of Iran is fighting against terrorism with full force," Boroujerdi said during the meeting in the Iranian capital on Saturday.
He underlined that terrorism is a global threat, and called for collective efforts of all counties to fight against terrorist groups.
The prominent legislator pointed to the ineffectiveness of the West's unilateral and biased sanctions against Iran, and said, "The West's sanctions over the past 30 years have resulted in nothing, but boosting the spirit of resistance and self-reliance among the Iranians."
Boroujerdi pointed to the status quo in Iran-Kenya bilateral relations, and said, "Expansion of parliamentary ties between the two countries will result in the broadening of mutual cooperation in different areas, including economic and trade fields."
Youssef Haji, for his part, said that the present conditions of Iran indicate that the country has progressed a lot in various fields, including acquisition of the peaceful nuclear technology.
The Kenyan parliamentarian pointed to the latest conditions in the Tehran-Nairobi relations, and said, "Both the Kenyan parliament and government attach much importance to the broadening of ties with Iran as an important and influential country in the region."
Tehran has prioritized promotion of its economic and political ties with the African states and the country is now considered as one of the African Union's strategic partners.
Tehran's efforts to boost ties and cooperation with Africa have led to its acceptance as an observing member of the African Union (AU), where it has shown an active presence in the AU summit meetings.
Last month, Iran and Kenya signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the promotion of ties in various economic, scientific and technological domains.
The Iranian Agricultural Jihad Minister Mahmoud Hojjati and Kenyan International Trade Minister Amina Mohammad, who had participated in the Sixth Joint Economic Commission of Iran and Kenya in Tehran, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) based on which the two sides are obliged to do their best to pave the ground for widening and deepening of mutual cooperation in all arenas.
