The Israeli Interior Minister, Gilad Erdan, on Tuesday, decided to stop delivery of Palestinian bodies retained by the occupation authorities because of what he called “Palestinian incitement and lack of commitment to the burial conditions set by Israel.”
According to Hebrew media sources, Erdan made this decision after Palestinians “did not stick to the Israeli conditions” during the return of two Palestinians bodies last night.
The martyrs’ families petitioned the Israeli Supreme Court to hand over the bodies of their children before Ramadan.
Israel retains bodies of Palestinians whom it had killed since October last year. The bodies are kept in refrigerators and returned under strict conditions including time, place and number of participants.
Usually, only 20-50 Palestinians are allowed to attend funerals, and the burial should take place by midnight. Sometimes a fine is also included.
