Israeli Forces Target Gaza Fishermen and Farmers
Ramallah - Arab Today

Israeli navy ships opened fire Thursday at Palestinian fishing boats off the Gaza strip coast.

Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) reported that an Israeli navy ship attacked, chased and opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats.

No causalities were reported.

Israeli navy have recently stepped up their attacks against fishermen in Gaza Sea, denying them access to their livelihood and free fishing in Gaza Sea.

Under the Oslo accord signed in 1993, fishing is allowed 20 miles off the enclave.

Yet, the Israeli gunboats attacked the Gazan fishermen at a six-mile distance, said the sources.

According to official figures, there are 3,500 fishermen in the Gaza Strip.
