Cairo - Jabr Abou al-Noor

Goalkeeper Ahmad al-Shanawi Cairo - Jabr Abou al-Noor Al-Zamalek goalkeeper Ahmad al-Shanawi has denied he deliberately tried to miss the club's friendly match against Wadi Degla. Speaking to Arabstoday, al-Shanawi attacked the media for reporting that he tried to put Jorvan Vieira's team in jeopardy by pulling out. The match at the Al-Hadaf stadium on Friday ended 1-1. Al-Shanawi says reports of him now wanting to play because of a shoulder injury are not true. "I'm doing my best to be part of the team. The media is not telling the truth. They are just trying to stir trouble," he said. He also denied rumours of a wild evening in the streets of Cairo on the evening before the match: "I did not miss the game and there were several witnesses who saw me play," he claimed.
