Ahly fans celebrate the court's verdict London - Arabstoday FIFA President Sepp Blatter has asked Egyptian football fans to remain peaceful, after riots in Cairo following a court ruling. "I pledge football fans in Egypt to remain peaceful," Blatter wrote on his Twitter feed on Saturday. "Violence is never a solution and is contrary to the spirit of sport," he added. Hundreds of hardcore al-Ahly fans, Ultras Ahlawy torched Egyptian Football Association (EFA) headquarters in an angry reaction to the verdict issued on the deadly Port Said stadium disaster. EFA Chief Executive Sarwat Swelam told state news agency MENA that historical Egyptian football documents were burned and national team trophies were stolen in the attack. "The situation is very difficult. Large numbers of Ultras Ahlawy burned all the documents and papers and also stole all the cups. The history of Egyptian football is now lost and cannot be recovered," he said. Ahly fans had reacted after the court acquitted seven of the nine police officials on trial.
