Argentine striker Lionel Messi Madrid - Agencies Argentine striker Lionel Messi won Europe's Golden Boot after netting 50 goals for his team Barcelona FC in Spain's La Liga last season. Messi dedicated the award to his teammates, saying "it is a prize for scoring goals, but without my teammates I couldn't have scored them." The 25-year-old beat his Spanish league rival Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid by four goals to take the honour. Ronaldo had taken the previous 2010-2011 accolade, scoring 40 goals for his club.
