Mohamed Salah has been at Basel since April Cairo - Hossam al-Said FC Basel forward Mohamed Salah is delighted to have won the most promising talent award, at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards 2012. The 20-year old picked up the accolade at the star-studded awards ceremony in Accra last week. Salah was joined by the likes of Mohammed Aboutrika, Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure in the Ghanain capital. In his victory speech, Salah spoke of his admiration for al-Ahly striker Aboutrika, describing him as his "idol." He explained that his respect for Aboutrika is the reason why he wears the number 2 jersey for Basel. Salah also thanked former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, after the Ivorian praised the former Al-Mokawloon al-Arab youngster during a video compilation played during the ceremony. Salah confirmed that he will remain at Basel until the end of this year, despite offers from Germany and the Netherlands. He reiterated his dream of playing in the Spanish league, and is hoping to face Spanish opposition in the UEFA Europa league for Basel.
