Bougherra has played for Rangers Algiers - Khaled Alloush Sources at Qatari club Lekhwiya have confirmed that English Premier League team Wigan has opened talks with Algerian defender Madjid Bougherra about a potential move during the current transfer window. It is believed that a number of officials from Wigan are in Doha to convince the central defender, nicknamed "Magic," to sign as a replacement for injured Spaniard Ivan Ramis. Sources added that Wigan boss Roberto Martinez was keen to sign Bougherra last year, before he moved to Lekhwiya. Although the 30-year old has not played in the Premier League, he has experience of playing in Europe with Scottish club Rangers. The versatile Algerian, who can also play in midfield, has enjoyed successful spells at Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton Athletic and Crewe Alexandra.
