A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crashed in Mobile Bay off the Alabama coast Tuesday night and only one of the four crew members had been found, authorities said. The Mobile Press-Register reported the condition of the one crew member who was pulled from the water and taken to a local hospital was not known. Coast Guard Lt. J.G. Timothy Williams said the MH-65 helicopter crashed about 8:30 p.m. after leaving the Coast Guard Aviation Training Center on a training mission, the newspaper said. It went down 2-3 miles southwest of Point Clear, the Coast Guard said. Water in the area averages about 13 feet deep, depending on the tide. The names of the crew members had not been released and the cause of the crash was unknown. An air and water search was under way.
