At least 35 militants were killed and several others injured over the last 42 hours in Pakistan's northwest tribal areas of Kurram Agency and Orakzai Agency, local media reported on Friday. Local news agency APP quoted unidentified officials as saying that several militant hideouts were also destroyed in the operations. The clashes between the security offices and militants broke out following attacks by militants at some of the checkposts of the security forces stationed in the afore-said areas, said the report. Backed by gunship helicopters, the security forces launched a counter attack at the militants. As a result, 25 militants were killed in Kurram Agency which borders Afghanistan and ten others were killed in the neighbouring Orakzai Agency, it said.
