Four people died when a small plane crashed while trying to land at Florida's Melbourne International Airport, officials said. Witnesses said the single-engine, four-seat aircraft went into a nose dive Wednesday evening and slammed into a wooded area on the edge of the airport's property. It took rescue crews nearly 45 minutes to locate the plane's wreckage, Florida Today reported. Airport spokeswoman Lori Booker said the damage to the plane was so severe the identifying tail number was unreadable. Officials were working to identify the victims. The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane was a Cirrus SR22. Booker told Florida Today this was the first fatal crash at the airport in about a decade.
