At least four people were killed and eight others injured Saturday in a car accident in Giza governorate of Egypt, official MENA news agency reported. The accident occurred when two cars collided on the Masr-Asiut agricultural highway in Manial Sheiha district of the governorate. "The injured people were sent to Hawamdeya and Qasr al-Nil hospitals," MENA quoted Health Ministry spokesman Yahia Moussa as saying, adding that six of them in minor conditions have left the hospitals. Egypt's Transportation Minister Hatem Abdel-Latif recently said that road accidents in Egypt kill about 10,000 people every year. The lack of highway monitoring system, poor road maintenance and the negligence of traffic rules are behind the high rate of road accidents.
