At least six people were killed in a road accident involving an oil tanker and two commuter buses late Saturday in the outskirts of Abuja, authorities said Sunday. Some 16 others were injured in the accident, which also involved a number of other vehicles, said the Federal Road Safety Commission, adding that the injured were immediately sent to hospital. The oil tanker lost control due to brake failure, brushed some vehicles on the roadside and ran into the two buses, according to Kunle Akinpelu, a medical aid worker. But an Nigerian online newspaper, Daily Post, said no fewer than 20 people were feared dead in the accident, which saw the oil tanker lost control and rammed into the BRT bus. At least 36 people were killed in April this year when a fuel tanker exploded after crashing into a crowded bus in southern Nigeria.
